Engaging thousands of Tesco Mobile colleagues with an agile internal comms platform

Tesco Mobile is the UK’s fifth largest mobile network, serving over 5.2m customers. The network is renowned for its award-winning customer service, great value and family-friendly approach.

As part of its drive to deliver the best possible service, Tesco Mobile needed a platform to encourage and reward staff going above and beyond for its customers. But with over 3000 colleagues split over 500 Phone Shops, Head Office locations and Customer Care hubs, the network needed something that engaged everyone from the shop floor to the office.

In response, Fanclub developed Little Helps Champions: an online rewards and recognitions platform exclusively available to Tesco Mobile colleagues. Little Helps Champions allowed colleagues to nominate their peers for anything that they felt lived up to the network’s values, no matter how big or small. In return, nominated colleagues received a branded thank you email, certificate from the CEO and a Little Helps Champion pin badge to show off their latest accolade to peers and customers.

The digital platform was adapted during Christmas– TescoMobile’s biggest retail period – to help drive colleague engagement, ensuring that everyone across the business was engaged to deliver award-winning customer service. Alongside pin badges, certificates and thank you notes, hand-selected colleagues also received a Tesco Mobile Christmas jumper; a coveted item within the brand.

The platform has been adapted to engage and inspire colleagues during key retail periods, business milestones and brand campaigns as a go-to hub for news, recognition and fun.

Earning fans

Since its launch in August 2018, the platform has received more than 2300 nominations for groups and individual colleagues across the business.
